Consumer NZ Recommends — AMI Roadside Rescue

New drivers, on your side.

Passed your restricted or full NZ car driver licence in the last 12 months? You qualify.

No AMI policy needed

Open to all new drivers, AMI customer or not.

Three groups we built this for.

Whether it's your first time behind the wheel, you're getting a licence later in life, or you've just arrived in Aotearoa — we've got you.

Young drivers

  • A free year of AMI Roadside Rescue is one less thing to worry about

New drivers

  • Ages 25–40+ · came to driving a little later
  • Have experience but new to NZ road testing
  • A free year of AMI Roadside Rescue is a useful safety net

Recent migrants

  • Couldn't directly convert an overseas licence
  • Newly passed an NZ practical test in the last 12 months
  • Help on hand while you learn local roads and conditions
