Important details and terms
  1. AMI Roadside Rescue is free with AMI Comprehensive Car policies. To be eligible, your vehicle must be motorised, roadworthy, and 3.5 tonnes GLW or less, legally used on NZ public roads. Terms & Conditions apply.
  2. A free year is available to all drivers who've passed their restricted or full NZ car driver licence within the last 12 months — whether they have an AMI policy or not. Terms & Conditions apply.
  3. The $49 per year offer is only available with a current AMI Insurance policy. Unless the immediate-cover Membership option is paid for, a 24-hour stand-down period applies. Terms & Conditions apply.
  4. The $79 per year price is available if you don't currently have an AMI Insurance policy. Annual subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each 12-month period unless cancelled. Terms & Conditions apply.

Any new Restricted or Full-Licensed driver in New Zealand is eligible to sign up for one year's free offer of AMI Roadside Rescue, within one year of receiving their class 1 vehicle licence — whether you're an AMI customer or not.
We'll send you an email towards the end of your offer to let you know your free year is coming to an end, and how to purchase it for another year.
No. Anyone in New Zealand who has been licensed as a Restricted or Full-Licensed driver is eligible to sign up for one year's free offer of AMI Roadside Rescue, within one year of receiving their class 1 vehicle licence.
If you have a flat battery, we'll jumpstart your car to get you moving again, and fit a new battery if required (the battery cost is yours). If you run out of fuel, we'll deliver up to 5 litres free of charge (up to three times per 12-month membership). If you have an EV and run out of charge, our electric fleet can deliver a fast charge or tow you to the nearest charging facility. We'll change a flat tyre where possible, tow you to a repairer or a safe place if you break down, and help you get back into your car if you lock your keys in. Vehicles over 3,500kg (3.5 tonnes GLW); unattended vehicles; vehicles not within easy access of a public road accessible by a two-wheel drive vehicle; vehicles that need salvage equipment; lack of access due to extreme weather such as snow, ice, flooding or slips; vehicles being used for competition or off-road activity; vehicles involved in an accident; and towing due to a vehicle being used in an illegal or unsafe way. Yes. AMI Roadside Rescue can help you in any part of New Zealand within easy access of a public road accessible by a two-wheel drive vehicle. We have vehicle hubs across the country, with over 1,000 vehicles to send out to you. Mobile services are only available in Auckland with more locations coming soon.
Yes, we offer AMI Roadside Rescue for both electric and petrol/diesel vehicles. We'll tow your vehicle to the nearest charging unit, AMI approved repairer, or place of safety.
No. AMI Roadside Rescue is only equipped to help with breakdowns. If you need assistance because you've been in a collision or car accident, it's best to call your insurance provider — your insurance cover may include towing options.
Yes. Your AMI Roadside Rescue includes cover for towed vehicles such as your caravan, boat or trailer, so when you break down these will also be transported/towed to the nearest AMI approved repairer or place of safety.
Yes. Your AMI Roadside Rescue covers you as the main named driver, your car, and anyone driving your car. If anyone driving your vehicle needs roadside assistance, we've got you covered.
Yes. Your AMI Roadside Rescue covers you as the main named driver, so if you need roadside assistance while driving any vehicle, we've got you covered.
